Join us in Chibolya, Zambia as we seek to transform our community through local partnership, practical programs, relationship-building and discipleship, and most importantly the Gospel. Zambia is in the heart of Sub-Saharan Africa and is a country full of rich culture, hospitable and welcoming people, and the natural beauty of Africa. Zambia is a Christian nation, but has been sadly led astray by false prophets and teachers. We have seen a lot of false Gospel in churches and cultural Christians in everyday life. We want those who call themselves Christians to have a true sense of Jesus and the grace of God and learn how to walk their faith in everyday life.
We want to see people and our community as a whole. That involves the physical, spiritual, social, and economical needs. Community transformation looks like a community where no one is invisible and everyone has access to food (physical), freedom (social, economical) and forgiveness (spiritual).
We are looking for someone who has a passion for teaching and the heart for seeing others have “light bulb” moments in their English-learning experience. One of the things we get asked the most is if we will do English classes. People want to learn English to be able to read the Bible for themselves! We also partner with a local school that could use someone as a supporter to sit with individual students and help them on a one-on-one level. This could be in reading, writing, math, or any other subject!
Imagine sitting with a 13 year old boy, a 45 year old woman, and a 7 year old girl learning together how to read the Great Commission. Picture the huge smiles on their faces as they read the word “go” for the first time. As the dust swirls around their feet, they can now “go” into their community with the love of Jesus.
An understanding of TESL or a TESL certificate would be beneficial, but not required.
This person needs to be patient and understanding as they will be working with students who may not know any English.
A background or education in teaching would be crucial.
