University Outreach
Only 1% of the world will graduate from college. In every country in the world, there are university campuses filled with students who are searching for truth. These students are the leaders and influencers of tomorrow. As a Reaching University Students volunteer, you will be able to help the future leaders of the world find the Truth that their hearts long for.
What would I do? What does a typical day look like?
Imagine yourself sitting in a cafe in the Muslim world or perusing a city market in the Middle East while getting to know university students and talking with them about your relationship with Christ. You'll be amazed at the similarities you find as you engage in conversation about your lives and be gripped by the spiritual need of the students you meet.
The focus of 'Reaching University Students' is evangelism and discipleship with opportunities for language learning, ministry training and personal development.
By serving in the Reaching University Students track, you will probably be helping college students with their English studies, either formally or informally, while you work to learn their heart language, either formally or informally. Your primary ministry focus will be the college students on a nearby university campus.
A typical day might be:
- Personal devotions and prayer
- Cramming for a language quiz
- Going to a language class for two 1-hour periods
- Leading an English conversation club on campus
- Hanging out with students afterwards over tea or coffee
- A one on one discipleship meeting or a small group Bible exploration meeting
- Worship and prayer with GoCorps teammates
What we’re looking for in Reaching University Students volunteers:
- Love for God and for others
- Comfortable initiating and pursuing relationships with college students
- Comfortable teaching: formally and informally
- Prayerful
